Each time we passed by it during our trips up to Northern Italy, we said “we must stop one day!”…and so, we did!
Gradara is the lovers’ place par excellence! It’s a tiny, little town in Pesaro-Urbino province, known for its beautiful castle and a love story, famous in Italy because Dante Alighieri dedicated one of his Canti in the Divine Commedy to this couple: Paolo and Francesca!
We arrived in the afternoon…the walk was so nice! The streets, full of people, the cute shops, the panorama from the castle walls!
It was a very hot day, so we decided to look for a good ice-cream. We then opted for a delicious homemade popsicle at Ristoro all’ex Corpo di Guardia: I had a peach one (made with real peach juice) and Fabrizio a mojito popsicle!
We then visited some stores to buy a souvenir; the sun was setting and the atmosphere was magical! We decided to look for a good restaurant and we stopped at Mastin Vecchio. We had a very good beef tartare, a plate of local cured meat and a risotto with Pancetta, licorice, hazelnuts and Squacquerone cheese…delicious!!! We ended with a good home-made limoncello cream!
We ended our romantic day with a last walk…so cute at night! There was also a concert in one of the little squares.
Have you ever visited Gradara? Tell us your experience, we’d love to hear from you!
