The Distillery District: a must-see in Toronto!

If you are in Toronto and you want to see a totally unique and different place, The Distillery District is absolutely for you! We were there a few years ago with Alessia’s cousin for a walk and a coffee together during our stay.

The whole district was born on what once was Gooderham and Worts Distillery, founded in 1832 and become the largest distillery in the world by the late 1860s. The closing of its operations in 1990 made this beautiful place, with its Victorian Industrial Architecture, a great possibility for those who wanted to invest.

The Distillery District opened in 2003 and it’s now regarded as Canada’s premier arts, culture and entertainment destination…and we totally agree!

First of all, it’s a pedestrian area, so it’s relaxing to walk in; plus, it’s full of restaurants, cafes and shops. A walk here really makes you feel better! We’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

A foodie tip: we enjoyed a cappuccino at Balzac’s cafe, a Grand Parisian style café inside a 1895 Pump House…vintage and so stylish!

The whole place is a must-visit spot for all of you enjoying the city!

Did you visit this place? Does it remind you of a place you visited? Share your impressions, leave a comment…we want to hear from you!
