Gorgeous Apulia: a stroll and a bite in Polignano a Mare

polignano a mare - where the foodies go19

Polignano a Mare is one of the jewels of Apulia and Southern Italy. A small, shining white town, almost plunging into the Adriatic sea from its steep cliff!

We visited Polignano during our tour in Northern Apulia, not only because this region has beautiful villages and stunning landscapes, but also for its delicious food! Apulia food is fresh, delicious and its traditional recipes are mouthwatering! Here’s what we tasted during our visit… look at the photos and promise you won’t miss it!!!

We had lunch at Pescaria, seafood restaurant with the most incredible sandwiches and raw seafood! Look at those deep-fried mussels?! One after another, like popcorn! [Tip: go there early, or you’ll end up being in line for long]

You absolutely must taste the “special coffee” of Polignano a Mare, made of espresso, Amaretto di Saronno, lemon zests, whipped cream and sugar…strong but terrifically tasty! We had it at Il Super Mago del Gelo, which claims to have invented it.

Have you ever visited Polignano and Apulia? Write a comment, we’d love to hear from you!
